Nesestrelles celebrate membership of EU in 1986

Dear Hofstadgeographers!

In the picture our partnerbloggers in Asturias, Spain. Meanwhile you know them as Nes estrelles and I beleive that some of you are in contact with them.

They have made a "horreo", a traditional Asturian store for wheat. This horreo is made of all kind of reclycable things, like milkboxes. Our Spanish friends are very concerned about the environment. In fact this environment project iss a present for the European Union, as Spain and Portugal are celebrating the membership of the EU, that started on November 25th, 1986, so excatly 20 years ago. If you want to congratulate nes estrelles I suggest you visit their site www.nesestrelles.blogspot.com and add your wish after clicking on "comments". If you prefer an English translation (by Babel Alta fish, so with plenty mistakes!!) please click on "comments" below this contribution.

Good luck, Geo Stork

Translation of Neustro regalo para Europa by Babel Alta Fish

DEAR EUROPE,
Of the 20 years that Spain has been with you, we have lost the first seven years. But we have always lived with the idea of Europe and so we want to continue. We want to thank you for the many things that during this time you have given us:
The HAPPINESS and the JOY of being able to live peacefully in a united Europe. La Paz that allows us to live in harmony.
The HARMONY that causes that we enjoy a wonderful freedom.
The FREEDOM that we all we can enjoy, respecting the diversity.
The DIVERSITY of cultures, traditions and origins that is part of the wealth of Europe.
The WEALTH, not only material and economic, but most important, of the values that all of us share.
The WORK that will be a guarantee and a prize by our studies.
The STUDIES, which we can have to form like citizens and citizens to us of the future. The future, that we hoped is a future plenty of hope.
The HOPE to peacefully live a life and every better time, in where the love is one of the most important values.
The LOVE, that will be the motor so that we pruned to have a world in equality
The EQUALITY, that as much men as women we deserve in all the scopes

EUROPE, WE WANT TO GIVE TO YOU... OUR YOUTH! And WE WANT To TO GIVE SOMETHING THAT BEING ASTURIAS SYMBOL, SERVES SO THAT YOU KEEP AND YOU CONSERVE ALL THESE VALUES THAT YOU ARE GIVING US DAY AFTER DAY: A HÓRREO BUT IT IS A VERY SPECIAL ONE. WE HAVE MADE IT WITH MATERIALS THAT THERE ARE RECYCLED: BRICKS OF MILK CARDBOARDS BOTTLES OF PLASTICO BECAUSE WE And WE ALSO ARE WORRIED ABOUT THEENVIRONMENT WE WANT TO PROTECT IT AS WELL AND WE HOPE THAT EVERYBODY WILL PROTECT IT

hello we are Christina and Zainab. We are from the tto class from Hofstad Lyceum.Today we had a test about topographie, about the EU lands. But we found it really good what you are doing. The environment is really important in this world. In the Netherlands is the weather really hot for this time, normally on this time it is really really cold. That`s because the weather everywere on the earth is changing we call that green house effect. Thanks for reading this!

Hello.
I am one member of the group of NES ESTRELLES.Ours present for Europe is one horreo made with recycled materials. We brought them from our homes and collected them at school. We asked teachers and other students to also bring some and help us, so we had a lot.
Then we made the horreo in the Art class and then took it to the school yard as it was very big. We made a video and a lot of pictures to make a PowerPoint presentation for the competition. We were in the video, saying each of us something from our "card", our Present For Europe.
